Join others who love to sing the old hymns for an unforgettable experience! The annual “Hymn Sing by the Sea” at George Washington Inn and Estate will take place on July 30, 2016 at 2 PM. Further details to be announced.
For the second year in a row, Dr. Frank Garlock and his wife, Flora Jean, are coming to the Pacific Northwest. Internationally-known as an accomplished musician, composer, and conductor, Dr. Garlock is recognized in both the sacred and secular fields for music which is of the highest quality. His compositions have been performed around the world by professional choirs and instrumental groups. In 1997, Dr. Garlock produced Majesty Hymns, an inspiring hymnal with over 600 hymns.
As owners of the George Washington Inn, an oceanfront B&B inn and lavender farm on the Olympic Peninsula, we have sought to find ways to promote good, wholesome music. We invite you to join us on Saturday afternoon, July 25, 2015 for the second annual Hymn Sing. The event begins at 2:00 pm and will end by around 4:00. You are welcome to arrive early or stay late to enjoy the farm and lavender gift shop. Dr. Garlock will also have a supply of his CDs and books available for purchase.
Dr. Garlock will share hymn histories and other encouraging thoughts as he leads this “Hymn Sing By The Sea,” and Flora Jean will accompany on the piano. Please join us as we raise our voices in praise to our Savior.

The inaugural Washington Music Festival is just a week away! The players are polishing up their music and there is an eager anticipation in the air. With the three great cities of Victoria, Seattle and Vancouver within 100 miles there’s an appetite for culture and good classical music, in particular the rich Baroque era that “expanded the size, range, and complexity of instrumental performance, and also established opera, cantata, oratorio, concerto, and sonata as musical genres.”
The Olympic Peninsula has many qualified musicians whose talents have been put to work. If Bach’s Mass in B Minor could be performed this past April here in Port Angeles, then these talents need to be nourished and propagated for the future.
Come out to an oceanfront oasis and enjoy the panoramic views and sweet smells of a lavender farm that takes you back in time. The Sequim Lavender Farmers Association is holding its annual “Heritage Lavender Farm Tour” which opens six beautiful farms to thousands of visitors who have made Sequim world-famous for lavender over the past two decades. Washington Lavender Farm will allow you to relax on their front lawn and take in music that George and Martha Washington would have enjoyed in a remarkably similar setting to Mount Vernon. All you need is a ticket to this farm tour event. Come and show your support for this exciting new music festival!
Have you ever experienced the incredible Victoria Symphony Splash, performed on a barge in Victoria’s famous Inner Harbour? Approximately 40,000 people gather on the nearby streets and the BC Legislature’s lawn to enjoy this annual event.
Let’s continue the neighborly ties between our cities. Were you aware of the queen city’s 150th anniversary celebration last August, when the iconic Coho Ferry, which runs between Victoria and Port Angeles, had its horn incorporated by the composer, Tobin Stokes, in his celebratory Inner Harbour Overture?
When you attend this annual musical extravaganza, make sure you aren’t on the last ferry back to the Olympic Peninsula. You don’t want to miss its traditional grand finale, Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, with all the wonderful sights and sounds of this unique venue. Our sister city has so much to share, and we look forward to sharing our new venue over here on the Olympic Peninsula in return.
